At the Institute of Preventive Medicine we have weekly scientific
meetings, at which we update each other about the institutes'
scientific activities, and discuss these. This is a very central
part of the life of the institute, where means for common inspiration
and cooperation are formed, which otherwise can be hard to obtain.
Therefore, these meetings are mandatory for all institute researchers.
The presentations are held by either in-house researchers or our
external collaborators. Especially four phases during the research
process are critical and ask for feed-back from colleagues:
a) the design of a new study before data are collected and/or
organised
b) the planning of the strategy for the analysis
b) while the analyses are going on, and new problems show up
d) the interpretation of the results from the analyses.
In
order to optimize the benefit of the staff-meetings, academics
should aim at presenting their research in one of the above mentioned
phases. At these stages, it is still possible to profit from input
from the rest of the staff. The final results are presented at
the meetings on the last Wednesday every month. At these meetings,
the most recently submitted or published papers are presented.
Meetings are scheduled by Birgitte Skogstad, tel: 3338 3866,
e-mail: bs@ipm.regionh.dk.
The scientific meetings are held on Wednesdays at 10:00 am and usually
last for appr. one hour. Every first Wednesday of the month, the meeting is opened at 9.45 by a member of the institute leadership (BLH, CH or TIAS) giving short information and news from the institute. These meetings will last appr. 1/4 hr longer. Exemptions from this rule can occur, and will be announced both beforehand by Birgitte, and also appear on the programme.
NB! All meetings are compulsory for researchers. TAP are welcome and encouraged to join on the first Wednesday's information and news.
