At the institute, we have two staff meetings per week, one on Mondays at 10:00 and one on Wednesdays at 10:00 throughout the year except for July and August and overlapping holidays. The two meetings serve different purposes.
The meetings on Mondays take place in the conference room at 1st floor. The meetings start with all staff present, and runs through the following issues, usually requiring less than 1 hour and without screen presentations:
1. General information and questions about institute activities from the directors and form the staff.
2. Brief presentation by the relevant younger co-author of the key messages of new papers published since last meeting.
3. Presentation and discussion of new research plans (BSc, MSc, PhD and PostDoc programs, new grant applications, etc), and/or selected topics of methodological relevance, e.g. statistical methods for non-statisticians.
The first Monday in each month is, however, devoted only to general staff discussions.
Participation in these meetings is mandatory for all staff for points 1. and 2. and mandatory for scientific staff and optional for administrative staff at point 3.
The meetings on Wednesdays take place in the conference room at the ground floor and they are for all scientific staff and include prepared screen presentations of scientfic results, including for example phd lectures. The meetings are usually of 1 hours duration, the defence lectures for appr. 1,5 hrs to allow detailed feedback. All scientific staff members are obliged to present their scientific achievements at regular intervals, and will be encouraged to do so on a particular date, which then can be exchanged with others, if convenient.
These meetings are mandatory for all scientific staff and optional for administartive staff.
