The PhD study:
The objective of my PhD study is to investigate non-specific effects of BCG and smallpox vaccination on morbidity and mortality.
In the 1970'ies BCG and smallpox vaccination were out-phased in Denmark because of changes in the vaccination scheme and practise. By taking advantage of the out-phasing period in my study design I can limit selection bias and potential confounding normally present in epidemiological vaccination research. I primarily base my study on data from the Copenhagen School Health Records Register and national registers.
